Another 169 cases of coronavirus have been recorded across Berkshire in the past 24 hours, the latest figures show (Friday, December 4).

In the same time, another two deaths at NHS hospitals serving the county have been reported, both at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Slough had the biggest increase in cases overnight with a rise of 47.

There were 30 new cases in Windsor and Maidenhead and 29 in Bracknell Forest.


The Government said a further 504 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 60,617.

This is how the latest breakdown of cases for each area of Berkshire:

Bracknell Forest    : 1,533 cases    (increase of 29)
Reading    : 2,834 cases    (increase of 27)
Slough    : 4,072 cases    ( increase of 47)
West Berkshire    : 1,706 cases    (increase of Cool
Windsor   and Maidenhead: 2,485 cases    (increase of 30)
Wokingham    : 2,237 cases   (increase of 28)
This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 449 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 261  (increase of two)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 23 (no change)
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 76,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

As of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 16,298 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,690,432.

Business Secretary Alok Sharma said “some” of the 800,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine are in the UK, adding that he is “confident” that all of them will be available when the vaccination programme starts.

Asked if the batch of 800,000 doses are now in the UK, he told BBC Breakfast: “Well, some are in the UK, but as we said the programme will start next week, and I think I’m confident that we will have all of those available from the start of the programme.

“People should feel confident about this vaccine. The MHRA is regarded as the gold standard of regulators around the world by scientists.”

Mr Sharma said people should feel “entirely confident” that the vaccine is safe.

“If it wasn’t it wouldn’t have been approved and wouldn’t have got the clearance from the MHRA,” he said, adding the MHRA have been “absolutely meticulous” in the process.
