IF YOU SEE ANYONE DOING THIS – 999 IT IMMEDIATELY AND MAKE AS GOOD A NOTE AS POSSIBLE OF A DESCRIPTION – PARTICULARLY CLOTHING AND TRAINERS !
THE WINTER BURGLARY CAMPAIGN
We are still having a few house burglaries across RBWM, but more often, it is sheds and garages. We have been having expensive bikes stolen from garden sheds – so if you have a valuable bike, you may have been followed to find out where you live and where you may keep the bike.
Protect sheds and garages with a ‘shed alarm’. These are available from most online retail outlets – search for ‘shed alarm’. These need no fixing, as they are battery operated and can simply be placed freestanding, on a shelf. They are easy to operate – you fob them on as you leave, close AND LOCK the door. You fob it off, as you open the door. They contain a heat and motion sensor – exactly the same as outside security lights. They sound at 110 decibels, which in the early hours is extremely loud and will wake up neighbours and deter offenders. Once it sounds – they will make off ! They are inexpensive and often at this time of year on special offer.In reality, it is a mini wireless burglar alarm. If you don’t yet have an alarm, think about:
Putting up a dummy alarm box, if everyone else in the road, or the large majority of your neighbours, have an alarm. Our Opportunist Thieves, are not experienced burglars. They know little about alarms and just look for the easiest target. In a street of alarmed houses, it will be the one without an alarm box on the front ! Simple as that.
Get a shed alarm, and use it as a mobile Burglar Alarm in your house. We know the preferred entry point to most houses is the back, where the opportunist is not overlooked and rear patio doors / kitchen windows. You read my reports – how often do you see - entry via forced rear patio door ? Simply place the shed alarm in the room with the patio doors and fob it on when you go to bed. You could – if they are on offer, buy a second, if you have another vulnerable point of entry.
Look for ‘Window Shock Alarms’. These are quite small, discrete and really inexpensive. They attach to vulnerable windows with double sided tape – with a red warning showing on the outside that the house is protected and alarmed. Once turned on are activated if the window is bashed, or an attempt is made to force it – causing vibrations.
‘Door Handle Alarms’ – once turned on, you simply hang them on a door handle. If the door is moved – the alarm sounds
‘Door Wedge Alarms’ – These are placed behind a door. The top of the wedge is a metal plate. If the door opens – it depressed the plate, making a connection and setting off the alarm.
ALL SIMPLE MEASURES ANYONE CAN TAKE TO PROTECT THEIR HOMES AND POSSESSIONS.
EVERY CRIME WE PREVENT ………. MEANS ONE LESS TRAUMATISED VICTIM !

During this difficult year families are experiencing many challenges including increased anxiety, isolation, stress and domestic abuse. They have needed a lot more support than usual to help them through the challenges of Covid-19, so our need to raise further funds is more important than ever before, to enable our vital support to continue.
We are therefore excited to announce that we are launching our first ever Reindeer Relay fundraiser! We are inviting you to join in on the fun and help us raise funds to support local, vulnerable families. On the weekend of 11th-13th December, in the spirit of Family Friends, we’ll be joining our family and friends (at a social distance) in a Reindeer Relay!
Choose any activity and “pass the festive baton” on to your family and friends to join in! It could be anything - for fun or a challenge - here’s some ideas:
Make a mountain of mince pies
Relay run/walk 5-10km as a family dressed as Santa
Create Christmas crafts
Dress up as an elf for a yoga or exercise session with your friends
So, pick an activity, tag family and friends to join in, donate or raise donations for Family Friends RBWM!
We can’t wait to hear your ideas. The countdown starts!

Royal Borough in tier 2: high alert
Thank you to everyone for doing all you can to stop the spread of COVID-19. We know it’s been a difficult time but we’re grateful to you all.
The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is now in tier 2: high alert.
The main points for tier 2: high alert are:
You must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place.
You must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space – this is called the ‘rule of 6'.
Everyone who can work from home should do so.

Tier 2: High alert
This is for areas with a higher or rapidly rising level of infections, where some additional restrictions need to be in place.
In Tier 2:
you must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place

businesses and venues can continue to operate, in a COVID-Secure manner, other than those which remain closed by law, such as nightclubs

provide table service only, in premises which sell alcohol
close between 11pm and 5am (hospitality venues in airports, ports, transport services and motorway service areas are exempt)
stop taking orders after 10pm
hospitality businesses and venues selling food and drink for consumption off the premises can continue to do so after 10pm as long as this is through delivery service, click-and-collect or drive-through
early closure (11pm) applies to casinos, cinemas, theatres, museums, bowling alleys, amusement arcades, funfairs, theme parks, adventure parks and activities, and bingo halls. Cinemas, theatres and concert halls can stay open beyond 11pm in order to conclude performances that start before 10pm
public attendance at outdoor and indoor events (performances and shows) is permitted, limited to whichever is lower: 50% capacity, or either 2,000 people outdoors or 1,000 people indoors
public attendance at spectator sport and business events can resume inside and outside, subject to social contact rules and limited to whichever is lower: 50% capacity, or either 2,000 people outdoors or 1,000 people indoors
places of worship remain open but you must not socialise with people from outside of your household or support bubble while you are indoors there, unless a legal exemption applies
weddings and funerals can go ahead with restrictions on numbers of attendees – 15 people can attend wedding ceremonies and receptions, 30 people can attend funeral ceremonies, and 15 people can attend linked commemorative events such as wakes or stone settings.

organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with). There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s, which can take place with larger groups mixing
you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible
if you live in a tier 2 area, you must continue to follow tier 2 rules when you travel to a tier 1 area. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through a tier 3 area as a part of a longer journey
