Another five coronavirus-related deaths have been reported at hospitals serving Berkshire.

The deaths were reported at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (three) and Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust (two), latest NHS statistics released today (Wednesday, December 9) show.

It takes the death toll in the county since the start of the pandemic to 747.

It comes as 251 more cases of Covid-19 were confirmed across Berkshire.

Reading saw the biggest increase in the latest daily figures from Public Health England, with 66 new cases.

The second largest increase was in Slough, with 51 more cases.

This is the latest breakdown of cases for each area of Berkshire:

Bracknell Forest    : 1,701 cases    (increase of 33)
Reading    : 3,073 cases    (increase of 66)
Slough    : 4,352 cases    ( increase of 51)
West Berkshire    : 1,813 cases    (increase of 39)
Windsor   and Maidenhead: 2,603 cases    (increase of 29)
Wokingham    : 2,423 cases   (increase of 33)
This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 456 (increase of three)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 268  (increase of two)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 23 (no change)
Meanwhile, the Government said a further 533 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 62,566.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 78,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 16,578 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,766,819.
