Residents of the Cookhams and beyond are being encouraged to take a wintery walk and help raise money for a local school.
Families and businesses in Cookham Dean have been busy decorating windows to create a living advent, with funds raised supporting the Cookham Dean Primary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Children can also spot letters in each window to solve a Christmas anagram and be entered into a prize draw.
The festive walk is open from 12-24 December, a downloadable trail map is available via the campaign website:
www.justgiving.com/campaign/cookhamdeanchristmastrail.
The organisers are also asking walkers to vote for their favourite display and post photos and selfies on Facebook of the wonderful windows (#cookhamdeanadventtrail).
One of the organisers and a parent at Cookham Dean Primary School, Lisa Karter, said: “It’s been a challenge to raise money for schools this year, but the one thing we’ve been able to do throughout this whole pandemic is go out for a walk. Cookham Dean is such a beautiful village, and with the added incentive of a puzzle to solve for children who might not be so motivated to walk, we thought it would be a lovely thing to do. We hope everyone who takes part appreciates the effort the school families, the church and some of our local businesses have gone to to decorate a window to display to anyone taking part.”
