FIRST: AN ACTION FRAUD CASE JUST REPORTED TO US:
On Saturday 12th December, the aggrieved received multiple telephone calls from someone purporting to be from Amazon Prime.
They said she was behind with monthly payments and there was £80 per outstanding on her account.
To try and sort this out, they asked for access to her laptop and she typed in some code, to let them proxy her hard drive. There are no more details at this time to find out exactly what happened.
NEVER NEVER NEVER grant anyone remote access to your computer. If anyone asks you to type in some code and press enter DONT DO IT PUT THE PHONE DOWN, FIND A NUMBER FOR THAT ORGANISATION AND CALL THEM.
NEVER USE A NUMBER THEY HAVE GIVEN YOU THAT WILL SIMPLY GO THROUGH TO AN ACCOMPLICE.
