There have been 62 further cases of coronavirus reported in Berkshire, with a double-figure rise in three of six areas.

Slough saw the biggest increase in infections in the last 24 hours, according to the latest Public Health England statistics on Tuesday (May 26).

There were 17 new cases in the town, plus 15 in Reading , 13 in Wokingham and seven in West Berkshire, with five each in Bracknell Forest and Windsor and Maidenhead.

Meanwhile the latest available weekly infection rate data up to May 21 shows decreases in three areas - Slough, West Berkshire, and Windsor and Maidenhead.

The Government said a further nine people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 127,748.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 3,180 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,470,297.

Bracknell Forest: 6.5 (up from 4.9 )
Reading: 41.4 (up from 37.1 )
Slough: 28.1 (down from 28.Cool
West Berkshire: 32.8 (down from 34.1)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 11.9 (down from 12.5)
Wokingham: 30.0 (up from 28.1)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,132 cases (+5)
Reading: 11,106 cases (+15)
Slough: 15,717 cases (+17)
West Berkshire : 6,538 cases (+7)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,580 cases (+5)
Wokingham: 8,365 (+13)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire as of Tuesday, May 25:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust : 502 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)

How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to May 25 shows that of the 61,995,062 jabs given in the UK so far, 38,378,564 were first doses – a rise of 186,147 on the previous day.

Some 23,616,498 were second doses, an increase of 387,987.
