Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in four Berkshire areas, according to the latest available figures on Friday (May 28).

Official data shows there have been a further 80 cases of coronavirus reported overnight, with a double-figure rise in four of six areas.

Wokingham saw the biggest increase in infections in the last 24 hours, with a spike of 24 new cases according to the latest Public Health England statistics.

There were 17 cases in Slough, 16 in Reading, 15 in Bracknell Forest, six in West Berkshire, and two in Windsor and Maidenhead.

The latest available weekly infection rate data up to May 23 shows increases in two areas - Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

The Government said a further 10 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 127,768.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 4,182 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,477,705.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending May 22:

Bracknell Forest: 7.3 (down from 8.2)
Reading: 44.5 (down from 45.7)
Slough: 38.1 (up from 34.1 )
West Berkshire: 27.1 (down from 30.3)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 12.5 (up from 11.9)
Wokingham: 32.7 (no change)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,154 cases (+15)
Reading: 11,145 cases (+16)
Slough: 15,747 cases (+17)
West Berkshire : 6,557 cases (+6)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,587 cases (+2)
Wokingham: 8,395 (+24)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire as of Friday, May 28:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust : 502 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)

How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to May 27 shows that of the 63,349,252 jabs given in the UK so far, 38,871,200 were first doses – a rise of 256,517 on the previous day.

Some 24,478,052 were second doses, an increase of 434,096.
