The number of new coronavirus cases in Berkshire has risen again, with 76 more cases recorded across the county in the last 24 hours.

Official figures, published by Public Health England today (June 9), show that the number of positive cases has jumped from the 65 new cases recorded yesterday to 76 today.

While the number of new cases has gone up since yesterday, it is still lower than the 104 cases that were recorded on Monday.

Today's figures show that Slough recorded the highest number of new cases, with 20 positive tests returned within 24 hours. But Reading and Wokingham also had a high number of new cases, with 19 and 18 cases respectively

Coronavirus infection rates have also gone up in parts of the county, with West Berkshire, Windsor and Maidenhead, and Wokingham all seeing an increase in their seven-day rolling rate.

But despite its rolling rate decreasing, Bracknell Forest continued to have the highest infection rate in the county at 96.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Bracknell Forest's infection rate is nearly double the national average, which stands at 49.2.

The Government said that, as of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 7,540 lab-confirmed cases in the UK, the highest single-day rise since February 26.

The Government also said six more people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 127,860.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending June 4:

Bracknell Forest: 96.3 (down from 97.9)
Reading: 90.2 (down from 96.4)
Slough: 72.2 (no change)
West Berkshire: 25.9 (up from 23.4)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 15.8 (up from 13.2)
Wokingham: 89.4 (up from 78.9)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,338 cases (+10)
Reading: 11,393 cases (+19)
Slough: 15,942 cases (+20)
West Berkshire : 6,615 cases (+6)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,636 cases (+3)
Wokingham: 8,632 (+18)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust : 502 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)
