FIRST: We had an incident by the river on Barry Avenue, in Windsor over the weekend. A tourist was taking a photo of the river when someone came up behind her and snatched their phone and made off. As we had almost no description as he came from the rear, an area search was carried out but no-one was located. Two things:
Be aware if you have an expensive phone of everyone around you when walking around with it, or leaving in on the table of a coffee shop while you are chatting and not paying particular attention to it. Keep is hidden and safe.
Always activate find my phone if you have an iPhone or some other tracking software. Mobile phones are very expensive to replace and if you have a contract of course – you still have to pay the monthly subscription – and buy a new phone !!!
The same applies to Laptops please – particularly if you are prone to leaving it in your car !!!
NEXT: We have dippers (Pickpockets) in Windsor Town Centre. Please make sure purses and mobile phones are secure at all times. In one case a mobile phone was stolen from someone’s back pack, which they were in a crowded space. I will ask out Town Centre Team to carry ‘purse bells’. If anyone tries to dip your purse / mobile – they tinkle and will alert you – just go up to them and ask for a pair – they are FREE !!

Had a ring on the door today at 12:21 Opened the door. No one there. Looked down the road and a chap was walking back to his van.
I asked him if he’d rung. He said he had and did I want to buy a memory foam mattress. I told him I didn’t and no one in the neighbourhood did either, thank you, stating that I was part of Neighbourhood Watch.
He gave me his card, said he had a door to door selling licence (as I’d asked) and said his name was John.
Reviewing the Ring doorbell footage, ‘John’ rings, turns his back, waits a moment then walks off. Not giving much time to answer the door which I thought was odd.

Thanks Steve – who forwarded images from his video doorbell, of the man with full face and clothing in colour and the van, with its index plate clearly displayed ! This is exactly what we need. I have forwarded this to the local Police Neighbourhood Team, the RBWM Community Wardens, Honor Ryan at Trading Standards and other officers who investigate crimes. Hi Jeff, I am not sure if this is the correct email to send to, but wanted to report a prowler in our back garden in Ray Park Road early this morning – 9th June between 3am - 4am looking into cars. The prowler was a young man in grey tracksuit bottoms and dark top. No cars were damaged or broken into, nothing stolen

14/6 Monday 4.15 a.m. Allenby Road. A witness heard the sound of a car window being smashed, a car alarm sounding and went to investigate. A man had smashed the passenger window of a neighbour’s car and he chased the man to Havelock Road, where he started fence hopping to Courthouse Road, where he lost him. The man was wearing grey joggers and a black hoodie with some kind of face covering. Nothing was stolen. Ref. No: 43210259567

12/6 Saturday 6 a.m. Ockwells Road. Burglary of 2 houses under construction. Entry to the property was via a fence panel in the back garden that was damaged and the suspects were able to climb through. The garage door was left open and doors for the properties were left unlocked - to show there was nothing worth stealing inside. The owner who lives next door, saw a suspicious car on the drive and went to investigate. He saw a man putting items through the fence panel, after coming out of the properties. He shouted and the man quickly climbed through the broken fence panel, saying he was "looking for his dog". He then got back into his car and drove away. The owner found a spirit level and temporary lights on the public path near to where the car had been parked. Two water pumps had been stolen. Description – white, 40ish, 5’ 7’’ height, about 16 stone, black hair. Wearing shorts and shirt. Ref. No: 43210256829
