FIRST: ………..TWO MORE SEXTORTION CASES SO FAR THIS WEEK:
The First:
The victim received a ‘friend request’ around 2 weeks ago, from an attractive young woman, which he accepted on Facebook. They started talking. They then moved to another App platform, where they could face time privately. The woman then started to send intimate videos of herself to the caller and asked him to show her similar intimate acts of himself, in return.
The victim ……… did this. Immediately, the woman said she had saved the images and started to threaten the victim, asking for money, or she would send the videos to all his Facebook contacts and 'ruin his life'.
The victim, immediately blocked the ‘woman’ on Facebook, but has received an email today - 'I bet your public image is worth my requirements to send $1,149 in Dashcoin'
The victim then called the police. He has not sent the money and he has been advised to block the email address.
The Second:
A woman’s husband was persuaded to send intimate videos of himself to a woman on an X rated Facebook Page, after they had been in contact
Immediately the demands for money came in - $200. The wife then took control of the situation and said they were reporting the scammers to the police. The scammers responded that they had copied photographs of the victim’s children, taken from Facebook and would publish them on their posters. After this threat, the victim deleted all the contacts from their social media and have not paid any money
These cases are really distressing for the victims. They know they have acted foolishly, but there could be enormous repercussions if the videos are sent to all their contacts. Fortunately – so far – we have not had a case where once blocked, the scammers have done this.
BETTER THOUGH TO BE SAFE, RATHER THAN SORRY
ONCE AGAIN THE ADVICE:
DO NOT WRITE, SAY, DO, VIDEO, FILM, SEND PHOTOS, TEXT ANYTHING ONLINE THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT YOUR FAMILY, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS, WORK COLLEAGUES - BOSS – EVERYONE IN YOUR PERSONAL ADDRESS BOOK - TO SEE, READ OR HEAR !
These case are devastating and cause months of worry – DON’T DO IT !

Many thanks to all those that have been phoning them through – we are really grateful – and - we do send people out to check them.
They need to be reported, as we have had some incidents of aggressive behaviour. One in Ascot, calling on an elderly and vulnerable resident, was aggressive and placed items in her doorway, preventing her from closing the door. Eventually she paid them £45 for items, to make him go away.
That of course, makes her vulnerable from a scammers perspective and easy prey to other scams.
If you see someone – there are both boys and girls, men and women who now do this – at your door with a large bag over their shoulder selling household products, wave them away, without opening the door and if you have contact details of other people in your road, ask them to do the same.
IF NO-ONE BUYS FROM THEM AND THEY CANNOT GATHER THE NECESSARY ADDRESSES FOR FUTURE SCAMMERS – THEY WON’T COME HERE AND WILL MOVE TO EASIER PASTURES.
In the past the Nottingham Knockers – a traditional name, they rarely come from Nottingham now – only wanted cash. They wanted to check the condition of the notes. If they smelt musty, or were flat and crisp, it indicated a store of cash in the house. Now with modern plastic notes, they cannot do that, so they use a contactless mobile debit card machine. We have had cases where, they enter the agreed amount and ask the resident to enter their PIN. They then appear to have difficulty obtaining a WiFi signal to process the payment. They wander about to locate a signal and while doing this change the amount that has been entered before pressing send. In one case, they increased a £15 payment to £500. By the time the residents receive a statement showing the payment, it was several months later ! Rather than run these risks, better not to get involved.
To protect elderly and vulnerable residents, everyone must follow the same procedures followed across the whole Thames Valley – a co-ordinated approach – Don’t open the door, but let them know you are at home. If you don’t have a window you can look through and wave them away, turn up a radio / TV, so they know someone is at home and chosen, not to answer the door !

8/9 Thursday / Friday overnight Coln Close. Shed break. Searched, but nothing stolen. Ref. No: 43210403572
6/9 Monday 7.10 p.m. Raymond Road. Suspicious incident reported by a witness. The witness arrived home at approximately 7.10 p.m.. As they were unloading their car, they were approached by an elderly coloured gentleman in a very friendly manner, as if we were old friends. After a couple of minutes he asked me to allow a friend of his, to transfer money into my bank account. I refused. Eventually, he accepted my refusal and spotted a young man walking down the road, who he then approached. I heard him give the same story and I think the young man, might have agreed to help. My concern is that he may have been trying to extract bank details. He is described as a tall, elderly coloured grey haired gentleman, dressed casually in a blue/ white hooped shirt.
