Another person has died after catching coronavirus in Berkshire, according to official statistics.

The most recent death took place in Windsor and Maidenhead.

It means that 1,485 people have died from the virus since the start of the pandemic.

Today's update also revealed that 459 new cases of the virus had been recorded across the county in the last 24 hours.

Wokingham found the most new cases after 98 positive tests were returned, followed by Reading, where there were 95 new cases.

West Berkshire had the fewest new cases with 56.

There have now been 95,899 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

Government data up to September 29 shows that of the 93,696,491 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,829,118 were first doses, a rise of 31,539 on the previous day.

Some 44,867,373 were second doses, an increase of 34,093.

The Government said a further 137 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 136,662.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 161,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 36,480 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending September 30:

Reading: 310 (up from 308.1 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 378.8 (up from 377.5 )
Slough: 288.8 (up from 278.1 )
Bracknell Forest: 298.8 (up from 287.5 )
Wokingham: 284.6 (up from 284 )
West Berkshire: 253.1 (up from 251.2 )

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 18,891 (+95)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 15,084 (+80)
Slough: 21,438 (+72)
Bracknell Forest: 12,498 (+58)
Wokingham: 15,488 (+98)
West Berkshire : 12,500 (+56)
