The Cookham Festival has teamed up with The Stanley Spencer Gallery, The University of Reading and Two Rivers Press to organise an international poetry competition on the theme of Stanley Spencer; his work, his life, his themes, influences or beliefs.
The competition is now closed for entries. Over 200 poems were received from all over the UK and abroad before the deadline date of 30 September 2016. Since then the judges have been preparing a shortlist of some 75 poems, which will be published in a Stanley Spencer Poetry Anthology. Please click on the link below to view the shortlist to be published in the anthology. The anthology will be launched at a special Cookham Festival Poetry Evening at Cookham Dean Village Hall on Friday 12 May, when poems selected from the book will be read. At that event the judges will announce a final shortlist of up to 12 poems from which the three competition prize winners will be chosen. The winners will be announced and the prizes presented at a special event at the Stanley Spencer Gallery, Cookham, on Friday 19 May.
